Farmington Founders Select Baseball & Softball
2026 Program Overview
The Farmington Founders Select Program is a hybrid rec/travel model designed to give experienced players a higher level of competition while maintaining the accessibility and community feel of our Spring and Fall rec seasons.
This program was created in response to growing demand for a more competitive option that still fits the schedules and budgets of local families.
Age Groups
Baseball: 10U, 12U, 13U
Softball: 10U, 11U, 12U
Tryouts will be held at Drake field (time TBD)
Age Eligibility
Softball: Age (or younger) on August 31, 2026
Baseball: Age (or younger) on July 31, 2026
Players may play up, but not down (i.e. If your player is 11 they can play 12u)
Our goal is to keep players in the youngest appropriate division
Parent/coach discussions can determine if playing up is appropriate
Program Philosophy
Our program philosophy is centered on creating a competitive environment that challenges players while keeping a strong local focus. We prioritize family-friendly scheduling to make participation manageable, and we are committed to keeping the program affordable for all families. Coaching is development-driven, emphasizing skill growth and long-term improvement, and roster spots are earned—there are no automatic placements, ensuring accountability and opportunity for every player.
Where We Play
Home games and practices will be held at Founder Fields and Friendly Field (CARES in Farmington Hills), with additional games taking place at opponents’ fields during league play. The team will participate in one to two local summer tournaments within roughly an hour of Farmington, along with scrimmages against other select-level teams throughout the metro Detroit area. Players can also expect consistent local league competition supported by weekly practices focused on development and team cohesion.

Drake 2 -3 (Baseball)
8:00–9:30 AM — Baseball 10U
10:00–11:30 AM — Baseball 12U
12:00–1:30 PM — Baseball 13U
Drake 1-2 (Softball)
2:00–3:30 PM — Softball 10U
4:00–5:30 PM — Softball 11U
6:00–7:30 PM — Softball 12U
Tryout Cost: Free
Tryouts are scheduled two weeks apart to avoid holiday weekend conflicts and to give families flexibility.
Players may attend one or both sessions.
A team of independent evaluators will conduct assessments.
No assistant coaches are named before tryouts to ensure a fair, unbiased process and avoid any perception of automatic roster spots.
